Tom Wolfe (born 1931) An American journalist and novelist, Wolfe has written controversial and best-selling works of non-fiction about American culture. These literary studies are written in a style known as New Journalism, combining personal impressions, reconstructed dialogue, slang, and academic jargon. The Bonfire of the Vanities, published in 1987, was his first novel.
